Weavers and Spinners Society of Austin (WSSA) is once again participating in the annual Austin Studio Tour! This year the city-wide event will take place on the second and third weekends in November. Our Opening Night reception is on Friday, November 7, for members and guests to mingle and enjoy the exhibit.
Our theme this year is “Reimagine: Recycling and Upcycling” and our studio gallery will showcase member's woven, dyed, or spun items with repurposed materials. WSSA members should be watching email for calls-for-art and volunteer opportunities leading up to the event. During the studio tour visitors can watch demonstrations, listen to talks, cheer on our spinners as they compete for prizes, and wander the gallery. A complete schedule will be available closer to the event.
The Austin Studio Tour event is WSSA's biggest fundraiser and networking opportunity of the year. A portion of the proceeds goes to support guild programming and activities as well as fund our equipment loan program, book library, and scholarship. So come wander our garage sale, a treasure trove of new and gently used weaving and spinning equipment and supplies, and discover one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends in the gallery. Or just enjoy the art, hand crafted by central Texas weavers, spinners, and dyers.
